About Me

I am a well-travelled global businessman, experienced martial artist, coach, family and local community man, mentor and carer to my wife who has Huntington's Disease.

My passion is helping others overcome their challenges so they can replace fear with hope. The world can be a tough place in which core values and respect for others seem to have been forgotten. With my mentoring practice I aim to share my hard-earned life lessons and philosophy as a distilled guide for my mentees and students to navigate through stormy times. I stay still and grounded by calling on the support of mentors, teachers, spiritual guides, friends and family.

My birth name is Antonio. I was born to Sicilian parents who moved permanently to England when I was seven. Initially I could not speak any English, something that led to my being bullied at school. However, I fought back, discovering an inner strength and determination which has stood me in good stead ever since

My training as an engineer helped me develop a career spanning over 4 decades in the power, oil, and gas and Petro-chemical sector. My work involved equipment design, negotiating contracts, and troubleshooting technical problems all over the world. Today I operate my own engineering consulting business, Terranova International Ltd trading as Power Plant Engineering. I have written various published technical papers.

My travel taught me the value of other cultures and how to work with all different kinds of people. The lessons learned have become a part of my philosophy for life. Also, to ensure I stayed physically and mentally fit while working away living in hotels, I developed a series of workouts that can be done anywhere and a hybrid strength and condition methodology for functional fitness.

I have my own approach to personal fitness and wellbeing using bespoke equipment, the local hills where I live and the ability to adapt and maximise the use of any space or tools I have available to me. For years I have blended my own personal routines embedded in my daily life with small group training built on trusted relationships and social connection. In 2019 I cycled 1000 miles from John O'Groats to Lands-end (UK) in 3 days with a team of 6 cyclists and support crew for Huntington's Disease research.

My interest in martial arts started in the early twenties with Shotokan karate. I was awarded my black belt from the Japanese Karate Association in 1986. After teaching in several martial arts schools, I started my own mixed martial arts academy, Fighting Fit Martial Arts in 2007 (renamed Rune Martial Arts in 2021). I was also accredited to 3rd Dan status by the British Combat Association in 2007 and was awarded my Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2019. I have written articles for martial arts and fitness publications/ and been a guest coach at self-defence seminars.

I am a qualified NLP practitioner and this, together with my life experiences and decades of studying such topics as self-improvement, nutrition, exercise, health, wellbeing, psychology, and eastern Zen practices, has given me a valuable wealth of knowledge, practical wisdom, and compassion. I have done public speaking for a large global corporate company.

I am married to Jenny, my wife for nearly 4 decades who continues to inspire me. I have two grown up daughters whom I am immensely proud of and two grandchildren. I live in Cheltenham UK.

This is me, lets hear about you…
